We have a new courier: a little rover delivery robot! (Don't tell him…but he's just a pilot for now)
Where it delivers
The rover's smart, but he's just getting a feel for the city. That's why we don't let him stay too far or go out late by himself. The rover currently does deliveries from 09:00 to 21:00, Sunday-Thursday.
Help, a robot’s got my order!
It's alright! The rover will be waiting at your building entrance with your groceries. You'll need to go outside to meet him.
The app has a special button that you'll need to tap to open the rover's lid. Be sure to tap it when you're already standing next to the rover, not beforehand.
Lift the lid to get your order. Tap the 'Close' button on the rover to close the lid.
How the rover works
From 09:00 to 21:00, the rover waits around in Deli warehouses to deliver orders. When selected for delivery, he delivers slightly faster than humans.
Rover navigates using LIDAR and other sensors to 'see'. He uses them to understand his surroundings, yield to pedestrians, and avoid obstacles.
Can Rover carry a lot of stuff?
Rover can carry about the same amount as a regular delivery bag. If a person can deliver an order on a bike, Rover can manage, too.
He won’t get lost? Even in bad weather?
Nope! He’s got lots of sensors, complex algorithms, and a dynamic suspension to help him get the job done. He may not be able to compete with his cousin on Mars, but he won’t let a little rain stop him.
What if someone steals him… and my food?
We always know where Rover is, and you’re the only one who can unlock him to get your order. Plus, he weighs a ton and won’t work without our software.
