Why does our app need access to certain features of your device?

All of today’s apps need access to certain smartphone features to function properly and provide a customized user experience.

It’s standard for Android devices to notify users when an app asks to do something that might be especially important. These notifications let users know how the app operates behind the scenes (for example, is it using your camera, your location?). You can always grant or refuse an app’s permission to access these features.

Our app only requires that users provide a valid phone number to place an order. It doesn’t need personal information like your name, birthdate, or passport/ID. It only asks to use the features of your smartphone that will make your experience more enjoyable and maximize the quality of our service.

The table below shows the different kinds of Android permissions our app might ask for. You’ll notice we don’t ask to access your calendar or email. We only need what will make it easier for you to use our app. If you don’t want to grant a certain permission (or any permission at all), you can simply refuse. The app will still operate and you can still place orders for delivery.

Camera

Reason for permission
If you want to pay for orders with your bank card, you can add it to your account in the app. We give you the option to scan your card number with your phone’s camera instead of typing it in manually. The app doesn’t store these images. If you don't want to grant this permission, simply enter your card information by hand.

This permission also lets you send photos/screenshots in the app's chat with our Support team. If you deny this permission, you’ll have to manually enter details about your order, etc.

How to turn it off
You can disable the app’s camera access in your device settings: 

Settings → Apps → Yango Deli → Permissions → Camera

Settings → Permissions → Camera → Yango Deli

Is it safe to add a bank card in the app?
We have a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard certificate (PCI DSS) that guarantees the proper level of card data security. The app doesn’t store bank card data, and the information you provide in the app is only used to link the app to your card.

Location

Reason for permission
The app automatically determines your current location to pinpoint the delivery address. This information can come from GPS, Wi-Fi, or both.

If you deny the location permission, you can manually enter your delivery address to place an order.

How to turn it off
You can disable the app’s access to location services in your device settings:

Phone

Reason for permission
The app lets you call your courier with one tap.

If you don’t grant this permission, you can still contact your courier by entering their number manually.

How to turn it off

Reason for permission
This permission is related to user Android device IDs (IMEI). Promo codes are linked to individual device IDs to prevent fraud.

You can still place orders normally if you don’t grant this permission, but you can’t use promo codes.

How to turn it off

Storage

Reason for permission
These permissions save maps to your phone's local storage, sparing you the trouble of having to download them repeatedly. This improves our app’s performance while also saving you mobile data, storage space, and battery life.

You can still use the app if you deny this permission, but it might not run as quickly because you’ll have to wait for maps to load.

How to turn it off
You can disable the app’s storage access in your device settings:

Other

Reason for permission
Yandex has a large ecosystem of several dozen applications, and you can use any of them with a single universal account. If you’re already logged into one of Yandex’s apps, these permissions save you from logging into others.
How to turn it off
You can disable this if your device manufacturer offers the option. 
This permission checks all available internet connections and chooses the best option, which optimizes your device’s data consumption and battery life.

This wakes your device up when there’s an order update, for example, to send you a notification that your order is being prepared.
You can disable this if your device manufacturer offers the option.
These permissions improve the app’s ability to identify a user's location.

This sends and receives data from the internet for the app to operate.
The app can’t operate without this permission, even though your device manufacturer may offer the option to disable it.
If a user adds their bank card tо the app by scanning the card number with the phone’s camera, this permission lets the phone vibrate when the camera successfully recognizes the card number.

This gives developers non-identifying information about app installation, like where users find it and when they install it. It’s a means to monitor distribution channels and protect against fraud.
You can disable this if your device manufacturer offers the option. 

Background mode

If you minimize the app and leave it running in the background, it will keep the following information updated:

  • order status details

  • promotional banners offering special deals

Background App Refresh

Reason for permission
If you minimize the app and leave it running in the background, this permission will keep your order status details updated

Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Yango Deli
